Anne Hathaway was raised a Catholic with what she considered "really strong values," and has stated she wanted to be a nun during her childhood. However, she decided against it at the age of 15, after learning that her brother, Michael, was gay; she felt that she could not be part of a religion that condemned her brother's sexual orientation.
“There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory… within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”—Nelson Mandela
